In 2024, marking the 80th anniversary of Harun Farocki’s birth and the 10th anniversary of his death, the Goethe-Institut, in collaboration with the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA), will present the program Intermission 2024: “Harun Farocki – Acting and Indoctrination”.
Harun Farocki is considered one of the most significant German experimental and documentary filmmakers, with influence that has extended beyond Germany. From the 1960s to the 2010s, he worked as a filmmaker, dramaturge, author, and university lecturer, creating more than 90 films, including features, shorts, essays, and documentaries.
This program will feature five films curated by American filmmaker Cathy Lee Crane. The films will explore Farocki's work in the context of acting and indoctrination as dynamics of control.
