Wolfgang Büscher studied politics in Marburg and after that worked as a freelance author for various magazines and daily newspapers. His first book Drei Stunden Null. Deutsche Abenteuer (i.e. Three Hours Zero. German Adventure) was published in 1998. Since then he has published more books about his travel and adventure experiences and has received awards including the Theodor Wolff Journalist Prize, the Tucholsky Prize and the Ludwig Börne Prize.
