Philipp Blom

(born 22.01.1970 in Hamburg), author, translator, journalist

Philipp Blom studied history, philosophy and Jewish studies in Vienna and Oxford. He wrote his first book Die Simmons Papiere (The Simmons Papers; 1997) in English and then translated it into German himself. He worked as an editor and wrote articles for a variety of American and European media as a freelance author. The main topics addressed in his books are historical research and philosophical exploration. His works have received numerous awards, including the NDR Culture Non-Fiction Prize in 2009 for Der taumelnde Kontinent (The Vertigo Years), as well as the Gleim Literature Prize. Philipp Blom lives in Vienna.
