School trip to Cologne and Bonn 2025

This year's school trip with students from Ellesmere College Riyadh took us to Cologne and Bonn and offered a varied mix of culture, history, and encounters. Right at the start, we explored Cologne on a historical city tour, during which the students gained exciting insights into the long and eventful past of the cathedral city. A special highlight was the cable car ride across the Rhine, which offered an impressive view of Cologne and its landmarks.

During our stay, we took many walks through the city and its extensive parks, which allowed us to get to know Cologne from different perspectives. A central part of the program was a visit to a potential partner school, the Thusnelda-Gymnasium Köln-Deutz. The students were allowed to attend classes there for a whole day and experienced everyday school life in Germany firsthand—an enriching exchange that left a lasting impression.

Bonn was also on the itinerary: we visited the Goethe-Institut Bonn and the DAAD headquarters, where we received interesting information about international exchange opportunities. Afterwards, we explored Bonn's city center and its historical sites on a city tour.

Back in Cologne, we went to the viewing platform of the Cologne Triangle, from where we could enjoy a breathtaking view of the city. A relaxing boat trip on the Rhine and a visit to the Chocolate Museum rounded off the varied program and provided some special moments of enjoyment.

Overall, the trip was a successful mix of cultural learning, language exchange, and shared experiences.
