Laundries in Hanoi

Laundries in Hanoi was a coproduction between Riki von Falken and filmmaker Nguyen Trinh Thi (aka doclab), initiated by the Goethe-Institut and generously supported by the City of Berlin. In 2015 Nguyen Trinh Thi spent a year with her American-Vietnamese family as a fellow of the DAAD. Therefore the coproduction began in Berlin. Nguyen Trinh Thi‘s work was a three-channel video installation.

Laundries in Hanoi premiered in the Sophiensäle Berlin and was shown during the fifth edition of Europe meets Asia in Contemporary Dance. This festival also featured productions from Austria, France, Israel and Japan. The two highlights from Vietnam were Bùi Ngọc Quâ’s The Roof and Tran Ly Ly’s Yes Yes No No.
