Arts & culture spaces support

Strengthening platforms for creation, production and dissemination

This programme strengthens arts and culture spaces that serve as vital platforms for artistic creation, collaboration, and community engagement. Whether you run a gallery, cultural centre, residency programme, or creative hub, we support both your infrastructure needs and programming ambitions to better serve artists and audiences.

Who can apply: Galleries, cultural centres, artist residencies, creative hubs, community arts centres, and other spaces dedicated to arts and culture programming. Both established institutions and emerging spaces can apply, from urban centres and rural communities across Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe.

What we support: Two types of support are available. Structural support helps improve your physical space, equipment, and organizational capacity. Programmatic support funds new initiatives, artist residencies, community engagement projects, and collaborative programmes with other cultural spaces.

Types of spaces: We welcome applications from diverse cultural spaces including contemporary art galleries, community cultural centres, artist studios and collectives, performance venues, maker spaces, cultural libraries, heritage centres, and hybrid spaces that combine multiple functions.

Programming focus: Strong applications show how your space creates opportunities for artists, serves diverse communities, and contributes to broader cultural networks. We're particularly interested in spaces that facilitate cross-cultural collaboration, support emerging artists, and engage with contemporary social issues.

Collaboration opportunities: We encourage partnerships between African and European spaces, mentoring relationships between established and emerging venues, and networks that share resources and expertise. Your application can include collaborative programming with other cultural spaces.

Financial support: Grants support infrastructure improvements, equipment purchases, staff development, artist fees, programme costs, and partnership activities. Budgets should demonstrate how investment will strengthen your space's long-term sustainability and impact.

How to apply: Applications assessed on institutional vision, community impact, artistic quality of programming, and organizational capacity. We look for spaces that combine professional excellence with genuine commitment to serving artists and communities.
