Performing arts dissemination grants

Supporting circulation of performing arts across Africa and to Europe

This programme helps performing arts productions reach new audiences across Africa and beyond. If you've created work that deserves wider recognition, we support the logistics, travel, and partnerships needed to tour your production to festivals, venues, and communities across the continent and to Europe.

Who can apply: Theatre companies, dance groups, music ensembles, storytellers, and other performing arts collectives with completed productions ready for touring. We also support individual artists with established performance work. Both African and European artists can apply, with particular encouragement for collaborative projects between the two continents.

What we support: Tour costs for existing productions, including artist fees, travel, accommodation, shipping of equipment, and venue costs. We fund participation in festivals, presentations at cultural venues, and community performances. The focus is on work that's already created and ready to travel, not new production development.

Where you can tour: Priority goes to touring within Africa to build continental networks and audiences. We also support strategic tours to Europe, particularly for work that promotes intercultural dialogue or represents innovative African artistic voices. Tours should demonstrate clear audience development potential and genuine partnerships with receiving venues.

Financial support: Grants cover practical tour expenses including artist travel, accommodation, freight, technical requirements, and promotional activities. We work with realistic budgets that recognize the true costs of international touring while encouraging cost-effective approaches.

How to apply: Applications are assessed on artistic quality of existing work, tour feasibility, audience impact potential, and sustainability of partnerships. Strong applications include clear tour itineraries, confirmed venue partnerships, and realistic budgets. We prioritize tours that create lasting connections between artists and communities.
