About the Project
Cinemocracy's goal is to help young people understand democracy better through film. By carefully selecting films that matter and organizing interactive activities around them, we create a space for teenagers aged 14-18 to share opinions, talk through important issues, and learn from different perspectives, helping them make sense of the world and figure out how they want to act upon it.
Our collaboration is a response to the current socio-political climate in Europe and beyond, a situation marked by deep political, social, environmental, and economic unrest. Democratic systems are shifting, nationalism and populism are on the rise, and societies are growing more divided and polarised, putting shared values, democratic principles, and culture at risk.
Through this project we want to connect young audiences with European cinema while also helping them understand the importance of democratic values like equality, participation, and freedom. We are five renowned European film festivals from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Serbia, and Slovakia sharing our expertise to create film education programmes for kids and teachers alike. Our home countries share many challenges when it comes to democracy, and by working together, we can find new and creative ways to educate young people and inspire them to stand up for democracy.

What we offer:
Film Catalogue
Each year of the project, we choose the main topic we want to focus on and curate a collection of films that we use within our educational activities and would like to recommend to others.Each topic is represented by ten European films of high quality and educational potential, that we find especially relevant for young audiences.
