LUDD Makerspace

Practical Workshop

As part of the event series “Bauhaus Open House”, the LUDD Makerspace is hosting a practical workshop on the cultural and artistic heritage of the Bauhaus.

Makerspaces are collaborative workshops that seek to bring together an open community of creative talent (designers and artisans) who use the materials and technical possibilities of the workshop and frequently work together on their projects during the implementation phase. The workshop amenities act as a commons provide the creative community with a wide range of resources, ranging from traditional crafting facilities (wood and metal workshops, pottery, etc.) to digital construction equipment (laser, cutter, CNC router, 3D printer, etc.) and electronic software.

 THE WORKSHOP

The practical workshop offered in Greek in the LUDD Makerspace takes place on two consecutive Saturdays in April (6th and 13th) and moves between the Bauhaus and the idea of the makerspace: open design.

The aim of the workshop is to create an open object. By experimenting with and modifying it, we hope to shed light on the relationship between art, technical implementation, and technology - as well as some of the issues raised by the Bauhaus in this connection - and put this relationship on a new footing.

The participants will try out practical ways in which contemporary structures and methods of design and construction - based on the idea of the commons - can extend and renew the Bauhaus’s essential commitment to creative work.

A more detailed description of the practical workshop can be found here in Greek (PDF).
