About the Workshop:
This two-part workshop series supported by the Goethe-Institut, Prague and the Czech Centres is linked to the CYCLE UP! sustainable residence programme.
Alongside the artists who are taking part in the Artist-in-Residence programme, we are offering places to artists to take part in this 1.5 day workshop which explores sustainability in artistic practice. Led by Lena Fließbach, the first session offers practical strategies for making creative work more sustainable—environmentally, socially, and personally. In the second session, Listening as a Creative Act, the PRAHO! Project invites participants to engage with public space through deep listening, shared reflection, and collaborative artistic responses. Both workshops will create space for open dialogue, community connection, and meaningful action.
Tuesday 27th May: 9.00 - 12.00
Lena Fließbach will guide us through practical ways to make our artistic work more sustainable — not just environmentally, but in how we work, collaborate, and take care of ourselves. We’ll talk about how to tell stories that connect with climate justice, improve working conditions, and create healthier digital habits. Lena will share real-life examples and work with us to find strategies that suit our own practices. We’ll look at how to plan more thoughtfully, use fewer resources, and build stronger local connections. The day will also include time to reflect on what supports us personally — how to deal with stress, avoid burnout, and share what helps us keep going. This will be a space for open conversation, shared ideas, and learning together.
What happens when we pause and truly listen — not just to each other, but to the invisible layers of the world around us? This workshop invites you to explore the power of personal confession, collective creativity, and public space as a canvas for shared voices.
Together, we’ll dive into a socially resonant theme, formulate key questions, and gather confessions. These will then become material for small teams to interpret and transform into artistic actions in public space — whether that means a performance, a poetic gesture, a spontaneous gathering, or something else entirely.
Expect a space of open exchange, collaboration, and sensitivity — and leave with a fresh perspective on how listening can become a radical and poetic form of artistic practice.

Lena Fließbach is an independent curator and author for contemporary art and an advocate for sustainability in the arts and culture industry. In the last years, she has been developing exhibition concepts and interdisciplinary event programmes for various institutions such as Hamburger Bahnhof - Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart, Berlin, Ocean. Now! or the Kunsthalle Exnergasse, Vienna.
In 2020, she co-curated the international group exhibition Zero Waste at the Museum of Fine Arts (MdbK) Leipzig in Germany, which minimized its ecological footprint and thus contributed to initiating the debate on the sustainability of cultural institutions in Germany. For the program, she organised local cooperations with a repair café, a community garden and organised Zero Waste cooking events. In addition to her curatorial work, she is involved as a mentor and speaker for a holistic approach to ecological and social sustainability in art and the cultural sector.
PRAHO! Project:
PRAHO! project was founded in October 2021. Back then, we began placing several dozens of poems in public spaces of the city in the form of stickers, posters, billboards or art installations. Each text carries a unique idea and a QR code that links to a website with several personal or urban questions, such as “What makes you get up in the morning?“, “When was the last time you did something for the first time and what was it?” or “Do you consider this city anonymous?“. You can also upload photos or videos to the site.
Since the launch of the project, we have received over 25000 confessions highlighting how unique people really are. Many are contradictory, others are repetitive – for example, mentions of feeling lonely or being misunderstood are very common. Perhaps because of the fact that the project is anonymous, people share their fears and secrets, send us their poetry, drawings and even short films. It is an incredible collection of opinions, feelings, artistic expressions and thought processes.
