The opening festival of the country focus Afghanistan took place from 30 June to 2 July at Kunsthaus ACUD in Berlin. We would like to thank all participating artists, colleagues and guests who made the festival unique.

Due to the protests against the oppression of women by the Iranian regime, the Goethe-Institut in Exile dedicated a series of events (end of January - beginning of March) to the cultural scene in Iran and invited to numerous events on Iranian art and culture at the Berlin Kunsthaus ACUD. The programme reflected the current situation of the local art and culture scenes and gave the German-Iranian community a space for dialogue.

The country focus on Ukraine by the Goethe-Institut in Exile is part of a comprehensive package of measures for which the Federal Foreign Office is providing funds from the 2022 supplementary budget to mitigate the consequences of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.

The inaugural festival "Goethe-Institut in Exile" with a focus on Ukraine will take place from 6 to 9 October 2022 at Kunsthaus ACUD in Berlin. Our special thanks go to our programme partners, all participating artists and guests, all colleagues, advisors and friends of the Goethe-Institut who have contributed to the realisation of our event, as well as to Kunsthaus ACUD.
