With a free screening of Precious Ivie

The 49th Annual Conference of the German Studies Association (GSA) takes place September 25-28 in Arlington, Virginia! Bringing together German Studies programs and educators from around the world, the conference’s seminars, panels, and discussions highlight developments in scholarship on politics, art, history and culture in the German-speaking world.

The German Film Office and the Goethe Film Archive, managed by the Goethe-Institut Boston, will travel to the conference as part of AMONG FRIENDS – UNTER FREUNDEN, a campaign of the Goethe-Institut USA to celebrate and strengthen transatlantic friendship.

During GSA Arts Night on September 25, 7pm Precious Ivie (2021) director Sarah Blaßkiewitz and actor Haley Louise Jones will join us for a meet and greet and presentation featuring excerpts from the film. This event is organized in tandem with a free screening of Precious Ivie at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema – Crystal City on September 27, 2pm followed by a Q&A with Blaßkiewitz and Jones moderated by Professor Priscilla Layne, University of North Carolina.
