In 2015, Johannes Ebert, secretary general of the Goethe-Institut, developed the idea for a new festival format in which exciting voices from all over the world would enter into an artistic and discursive dialogue on changing topics. Six years and three successful festivals later, Johannes Ebert looks back on the highlights of the third Kultursymposium Weimar together with moderator Vivian Perkovic. The pair discuss whether their understanding of generations has changed over the course of the festival, which viewpoints they have found particularly surprising, and which special moments will remain in their minds forever. We can also expect the first preview of the next edition of the Kultursymposium, which will take place in summer 2023 – hopefully in Weimar once again, with guests from all over the world. So, anyone who is already curious to find out the theme of the next symposium – or perhaps even wants to contribute their own ideas - should definitely stay until the end!
