The wastefulness of consumer society and throw-away culture compels some individuals to rescue usable items and even food from destruction. Dumpster diving, is the salvaging of waste by reusing, or repurposing, resources destined for the landfill. The film kaleidoscopically creates a new look at a phenomenon that everyone knows, because it affects us every day: disposing garbage. The focus ranges from the transformation of food into household waste, covering disposal, recycling and reduction. Different perspectives collide, which are connected via the fictitious life story of a normal piece of packaging. With an essayistic look, the film approaches the complex issues of garbage and food waste. What if waste became a matter of history and garbage cans would be turned into flowerpots?
