Vortex of Silence
I-na Phuyuthanon was born in Yala, Thailand. She earned her Ph.D. degree in Visual Arts from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, in 2014. She has been teaching at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Srinakharinwirot University, since 2012. Her notable video art is “The Stigmatic Victims” (2018). She is currently having an interest in sound art.
She is a local Muslim who believes that God is the navigator of life, and everything happens because of God’s will; therefore, her community and herself are living in peace even if there is still so much pain. She always reminds herself, it’s just another test from God.
Her work resonates the social, politics, economic context and current world situation often involve human rights and equality. She represents a minority group in Thailand and still fighting for the right through the representation of her art even though there is a tension and oppressive in the community from and outsider.
Konzept
I-na, a Video art artist who has been working for an underrepresented community in the three southernmost provinces for 12 years in the field. Her art revolves around the pain when her uncle was shot and died in 2010. She says, “You never know the pain until it happened to you”.She is a local Muslim who believes that God is the navigator of life, and everything happens because of God’s will; therefore, her community and herself are living in peace even if there is still so much pain.
