Contest “Our Sustainable Future” Top lesson plans 2023
We would like to announce the top lesson plans from the teacher portion of the Our Sustainable Future competition.
The overall winner as Chris Squire for his excellent two week long lesson plan that revolved around building base knowledge for his students about the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in German and English and then took what they were learning in the classroom to engage with the community on sustainability practices.
Our other top lesson plans combining German language learning and sustainability education included a project from Heidemarie Floerke on creating animals out of trash and using these creations to develop language skills related to sustainability.
Galina Vakhromova created a detailed lesson plan on acoustic ecology and German as a foreign language titled „Didactic Model of an Innovative Sound Ecological German as a Foreign Language (DaF) Instruction in the Time of Climate Change.“ Students engaged with the world around them through their senses and simultaneously developed their German skills in the context of ecology.
