Aris Fioretos (born 1960 in Gothenburg) is a Swedish writer of Austrian-Greek descent. He studied Comparative Literature in Stockholm, Paris, and at Yale University, earning his Ph.D. in 1991. Since 1997, he has worked as a freelance author in Stockholm and Berlin. From 2004 to 2007, he served as Cultural Attaché at the Swedish Embassy in Berlin and has been Professor of Aesthetics at Södertörn University since 2010. Fioretos is a member of the German Academy for Language and Literature and the Academy of Arts in Berlin. His work includes novels, essays, and translations of authors such as Paul Auster and Vladimir Nabokov. He has received numerous awards, including the SWR Best List Prize and the Swedish Radio Novel Prize.
