Designing Libraries of the Future

at the conference hall of the National Hellenic Research Foundation (N.H.R.F), 48 Vassileos Constantinou Avenue 11635, Athens
The 5th International Conference of the Committee for the Support of Libraries (CSL)) ended up with much success. More than 240 people participated in the conference, mostly Greek librarians.
Apart from the Greek lecturers, many speakers shared their experiences from Germany, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and the USA. Common topic of all papers was that libraries change their image concerning both buildings and functions.
The formerly traditional function of libraries, i.e. to provide access to books and print material, remains the nucleus around which the necessity to develop various activities is arisen. Those activities go beyond the formal information and education and are spread to actions related to entertainment, culture and social contact.
