Anthology Film Archives, New York, NY | Film Series

The series gathers a wide variety of films—all of them shot between 1979-99 and most of them very rarely screened in the U.S.—that document not only the bands that proliferated throughout Germany at the time, but the social and economic factors that influenced their emergence, and the response of German society at large.

Alle gegen Alles

This issue of GEGENÜBER presents punk not as a closed chapter in pop history, but as a source of cultural energy that feels surprisingly at home in the present: unruly, creative, sometimes irritating, sometimes inspiring, and still difficult to tame. Punk Is Not Dead. It's 50!
