The Goethe-Institut New York welcomes you to the Goethe-Institut Wyoming Building, its new downtown event space.
For the past six months the Goethe-Institut Wyoming Building has been the site of a limited program of cultural events while the space was undergoing a dramatic reconfiguration under the auspices of the Berlin architectural firm ifau + Jesko Fezer. Construction has now been completed, and the Goethe-Institut is pleased to present a full slate of cultural programming – readings, discussions, screenings, performance and exhibition – in this vibrant new space.
And the Goethe-Institut is pleased to announce the opening of a new component of the space: a gathering place/reading room in the tradition of both European cafes and East Village artist hangouts. As of September 8 it will be open Tuesday to Saturday, 1:00 – 6:00 pm, and all are welcome to stop by, see the new space, have some coffee, read, browse the internet, and meet others who are interested and involved in the downtown arts scene.
The Wyoming Building blog gives you up-to-date information on current and upcoming events scheduled at the space, including updates on the continuation of our very successful lecture series What Is Green Architecture?, now in its second year. In addition, it will feature commentary on the space’s programming by staff members of the Goethe-Institut New York as well as by artists associated with the space. You are most welcome to join the conversation.
