Over the course of the past year we have had to scale back all public activities at our historic Fifth Avenue location due to legally mandated fire-safety improvements. A substantial renovation is necessary in order to bring the building fully up to current standards. Our Library has been temporarily closed since May 1, 2009.
We will move into our new space on Spring Street in Soho sometime at the end of October or beginning of November. We are very pleased that we have managed to find a wonderfully bright and open loft space with ample room for both our library and offices.
You will soon find us in three locations in downtown Manhattan, all within an easy walking distance of one another:

Our new event space on the Lower East Side, the Goethe-Institut Wyoming Building, is now fully operational and offers an exciting program of ongoing series and one-time-only events exploring literature, architecture, performance and film in the heart of the downtown arts scene. In conjunction with the European Kunsthalle, our gallery space, Ludlow 38, will continue as a prime showcase of cutting-edge German art in New York.
Thank you for your continued interest in our programs and for your patience during this transitional period.
