Akademie der Künste (Berlin Academy of the Arts): Kunstpreis Berlin (Berlin Arts Prizes)
These prizes are to honour and promote outstanding artistic achievement in the following six categories: Fine Arts, Architecture, Music, Literature, Performing Arts, Cinematographic/Media Art. The Berlin Academy of the Arts annually awards a €15,000 main prize for achievement in a different category each year and a prize of €5,000 (or two €2,500 prizes) to young aspirants in each of the six categories.
Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts: Gerda und Günter Bialas Preis
This €10,000 prize, which is funded by the GEMA Foundation, is awarded every other year to a composer of contemporary music.
BMW musica viva Composition Prize
In this contest, cash prizes of €10,000, €7,500 and €2,500 are awarded every other year to young composers (up to 40 years old) from Germany and abroad.
Busoni Composition Prizes (Akademie der Künste)
Berlin’s Academy of the Arts also awards a €6,000 prize every three years to a budding composer upon completion of his/her studies, as well as a €2,500 prize to a student of composition.
Giga-Hertz Award for Electronic Music

A grand prize of €15,000 is awarded annually to honour the artistic achievements of outstanding composers, along with four production prizes of €8,000 apiece to help aspiring composers realize current projects in electronic or acousmatic music.
Hellerau MUSIC Grant from the European Centre for the Arts in Hellerau
This famous garden city in Dresden annually awards two-year grants for composers and performing artists to take part in various workshops and works-in-progress at Hellerau and for musicologists and cultural managers (alternating annually) to work at the Hellerau Arts Management Office in the Public Relations, Drama, Sound or Production departments.
“New Listening” Prize for putting contemporary music across successfully
Awarded every other year at the Munich Biennale, this €10,000 prize (est. 2006) is to honour success in putting contemporary music across to listeners.
The Ernst von Siemens Foundation for Music

This foundation awards grant monies totalling €2.1 million for projects chiefly involving contemporary music.
The NRW Arts Department Fund for New Music Theatre
The Land of North Rhine-Westphalia provides a total of up to €250,000 in funding for productions of 20th- and 21st-century works at permanent, independent theatres and opera houses (in North Rhine-Westphalia).
The Starke Foundation’s International Studio Programme

The Starke Foundation awards grants for a stay of 3 to 12 months at the villa Löwenpalais in Berlin to help artists realize their projects in the fields of the Fine Arts, Architecture/Design, Music (Composition and Performance) and Literature.

Berlin Opera Prize
A Gasag Berlin AG-funded music theatre competition: what’s special about this Berlin opera prize is it fuses the idea of a contest with an effort to promote music theatre composition by providing continuous support for the prize-winning young composer all the way through to the performance of his/her piece at the Neukölln Opera.
Christoph and Stephan Kaske Foundation Prize
This €10,000 music prize is awarded annually to one or several composers of contemporary music.
Frankfurt International Music Fair (BDMH) Music Prize
Annual music prize of €15,000 awarded to performing artists, composers, music teachers and music scholars for significant achievements in their field.
Internationales Künstlerhaus Villa Concordia Grant from the Bavarian State Ministry of Sciences, Research and the Arts
A grant of a €1,200 monthly working stipend, including lodgings and a studio, accorded to established artists in the categories Fine Arts, Literature and Music.
Louis Spohr Music Prize of the City of Braunschweig
Every three years a €10,000 prize is awarded to an internationally renowned and pioneering contemporary composer. The object is to instil a sense of cultural responsibility into future generations of composers.
Music Award of the City of Duisburg
A €15,000 prize annually awarded to composers (involving a composition commission), performing artists, directors, set and costume designers who have made an exemplary contribution to a music theatre production.
The Forberg Schneider Foundation’s Belmont Prize
