Inform. Research. Discover.

Contemporary German drama in translation: The funding and translation of works of new German drama into other languages has been an essential part of the activities of Goethe Institutes worldwide for many years.

A curated overview of artists' houses: These support professional international theatre makers, directors, playwrights, dancers and choreographers by providing them with studio space and accommodation for limited periods of time, often combined with the award of a stipend or grant.

About our work

We support creatives at home and abroad with various programmes. A special programme supports young artists living in Germany who would like to make their first international contacts as part of a guest performance abroad. Residencies and the promotion of research stays abroad enable the preparation of internationally oriented projects.

Guest performances in Germany by international theatre and dance ensembles from transition countries as well as scholarships and internships stimulate intercultural exchange in cooperation with German festivals, organizers and theatres.

Contact

The contacts for projects abroad are the local Goethe-Instituts. They decide whether certain projects fit in with their programming.
