In 1996, choreographer and performer Toula Limnaios founded the cie. toula limnaios with composer Ralf R. Ollertz. In 2001, the company received a prize from the “Meeting Neuer Tanz”. In 2003, it opened its own performance venue, HALLE TANZBÜHNE BERLIN and in 2004, produced a television Beckett trilogy for ZDF / ARTE. Since 2005, the company has received biannual infrastructural funding from the City of Berlin.
From 2008 to 2010, it was awarded concept funding from the Fonds Darstellende Künste as one of the ‘top ensembles of the independent theatre and dance scene’. The company has kept a permanent ensemble for many years now – making it almost unique in the independent theatre scene. The company’s extensive repertoire, encompassing 27 full-length works, is performed in theatres across Germany and the world.
