Stephanie Thiersch studied Classical Dance, Contemporary Dance (at Dominique Bagouet’s CNC Montpellier) and Arts and Humanities before completing a post-graduate course in Media Art at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne under performance artist Valie Export and media archaeologist Siegfried Zielinski.
Visual arts, contemporary photography and literature informed the development of Thiersch’s aesthetics. With her company MOUVOIR, she develops stage pieces, films and installations that have been presented in theatres and at festivals in Germany and abroad. She has created a number of exchange projects and choreographies in co-operation with the Goethe-Institute, most recently in Togo and Tanzania, Palestine, Jakarta, Singapore and Central America.
