Migrationsberatung (Migration advice)

The Migration Advisory Service for adult immigrants (MBE) has existed as a supplement to the integration coursessince 2005. Advice is provided on an individual basis and is intended to initiate, steer and support the integration process, the aim being to assist and guide immigrants towards independence in all areas of every-day life. The legal basis for migration advice – also known as “counselling for newly arrived immigrants” – is the Residence Act (Section 75, no. 9 in conjunction with Section 45, sentence 1).

The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees is responsible for organising the migration advisory services, while the task of implementing the programmes has been entrusted to various voluntary agencies such as the National Society for Worker Welfare (AWO), Caritas Germany, the German Non-Denominational Welfare Association, the German Red Cross and the Diakonisches Werk (the social welfare agency of the Protestant Church in Germany).
