By passing the Prüfung Wirtschaftsdeutsch International (PWD) examination, you prove that you can make yourself understood appropriately and react adequately in everyday work situations. The examination corresponds to level five (C1) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

After passing the examination, you will be able to do the following, for example:

• understand more challenging oral and written information in German and express yourself competently orally and in writing on professional and economic matters,
• process a wide range of linguistically complex and factually challenging authentic oral and written texts from an economic context in a receptive and productive way,
• express yourself orally on professional and economic matters in German in a manner that is correct, appropriate to the situation and sophisticated,
• deal with written correspondence in an appropriate form.

Certificates issued by the Goethe-Institut are recognized throughout the world.

The Prüfung Wirtschaftsdeutsch International (PWD) examination is accepted by employers in many countries as proof of a person’s knowledge of business German at a very advanced level.

The examination was developed jointly by the Goethe-Institut (GI), the Deutsche Industrie- und Handelskammertag (DIHK) and the Carl Duisberg Centers (CDC) and is issued by these three organizations.
