NAAS Film Program, Series "Green Reel: Films for a Sustainable Future"

We are excited to announce the film program NAAS which is a collaboration of several cultural institutions in the UAE, including the Embassy of Canada to the United Arab Emirates, the Embassy of France in the United Arab Emirates, the Goethe-Institut Gulf Region, the Italian Cultural Institute of Abu Dhabi, the Austrian Embassy Abu Dhabi, the Embassy of Switzerland to the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain and in partnership with Manarat Al Sadiyyat. The program features a selection of predominantly independent films that explore relevant social and cultural topics for general and film-interested audiences in the UAE.

The first edition of the program "Green Reel: Films for a Sustainable Future" focuses on the themes of environment and sustainability.  It presents the feature, documentary, short, and family films that tackle the burning issues of our planet in entertaining and exciting ways.

Curated by the presenters, the program also includes a guest curation element CARTE BLANCHE, which invites selected Emirati filmmakers to present a film of their choice.

The "Green Reel: Films for a Sustainable Future" will open on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 with the film "Anthropocene: The Human Epoch" by Jennifer Baichwal, Nicholas de Pencier, and Edward Burtynsky (2018, Canada), and will run bi-weekly to June 26th at Manarat Al Saadiyat.
