International Coproduction Fund

With the IKF, we support coproductions worldwide that arise from collaborative and dialogical work processes between professional artists in the fields of music, dance, theater and performance.


For the 1st time the festival is coming to the UAE. Organized by the Goethe-Institut Gulf Region in cooperation with The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi, German children and youth films and a program of short films will be presented to the young audiences of Abu Dhabi. The festival will take place from June 6 to 8 at the Arts Center at NYUAD.

targmat:a is a literature project that showcases selected newly published German books which have been suggested for translation into Arabic by a jury of experts.


The magazine for German learners, German teachers and everyone interested in Germany: Stories about everyday life, career and studies, information about German cities, tips and trends.

Mirath:Music is a regional touring sound-exhibition about the cultural heritage music in North and Northeast Africa and West Asia.The exhibition takes an experimental curatorial approach using the participating artists’ individual takes on the subject and playing with musical elements from different times and places.

Translation funding

Our translation funding programme supports the publication of books by German authors in another language.

The eLibrary is a digital service offered by the Goethe-Institut library for the Gulf Region which allows you to borrow digital media.

Film archive

The film archive in Cairo comprises approximately 150 films (DVD and 35mm), which we make available free of charge to cinematheques, film clubs, film festivals, cultural and educational institutions for non-commercial screenings.
