Support to EU Film Festivals is a project initiated by the European Union and carried out by Cineuropa.org, the Institut français and the Goethe-Institut. Its aim is to support the creation of EU film festivals organised worldwide by the Delegations of the European Union and to improve their quality. After a successful first phase running from 2019 to 2022, the European Commission launched a new phase in January 2023. The duration of this second phase has been extended from two to four years, until 2026.

The consortium offers a range of services available to all European delegations:
  • An archive of European films selected by a professional jury, which delegations can use free of charge upon request
  • Securing worldwide non-commercial rights and producing and distributing DCPs and Blu-rays to all delegations
  • Support in organising side events (workshops, masterclasses, film education, co‑production markets, networking events...)
  • Several delegations receive additional and direct support, including the hiring of curators, the search for local sponsors and partnerships, and the rental of venues
  • Online and offline training with various modules on film festival management

Over the course of the project, the consortium has created shared visual and graphic materials available to all delegations, as well as a do‑it‑yourself guide and the project’s own information platform: https://europeanfilmfestival.eu/
