The German Foreign Office and the Goethe-Institut promote the German language as a working and procedural language in the European institutions through the exclusive grant programme Europanetzwerk Deutsch. Various language course programmes and events on socio-political and cultural topics provide the opportunity to improve existing German language skills and to become part of a committed alumni network in Europe. The activities take place both on site and online.

Christmas Greetings 2025 & EU courses 2026

The Europanetzwerk Deutsch wishes you and your families a peaceful Advent season. We would like to take a look back at our last event in Brussels: the Max Ophüls Prize film festival visited Brussels with the GDR youth drama ‘Jenseits der blauen Grenze’ and thrilled the audience. We have planned another varied programme for you next year. Make a note of 23 February in your diary now. Together with the Bavarian State Agency for Political Education and the Representation of the Free State of Bavaria to the EU, we are hosting an event on this day that will not only focus on German remembrance culture, but also on how we can return to a culture of debate and understanding. The occasion is the novel ‘Der Weg zur Grenze’ (The Way to the Border) – a novel written in 1944/45 in the Amsterdam hideout of the persecuted Jewish writer Grete Weil, which was discovered long after her death by Dr Ingvild Richardsen. Finally, we would like to draw your attention to the EU Course Programme 2026 – apply now for a scholarship place.
