“Under the Mango Tree – Talks from the Vila Sul Residency” is an English-language podcast exploring artistic perspectives on the Global South. The series brings together conversations with international artists from the Vila Sul Residency of the Goethe-Institut Salvador-Bahia, who develop their projects during their stay in Salvador, Brazil. Each episode takes a specific theme and approaches it from a transcultural perspective, turning it into a personal conversation about art, society, and creative processes. SEASON 1

Episode 4: Under the Mango Tree with Dudu Quintanilha and Maria José Murillo

Episode 4  of “Under the Mango Tree – Talks from the Vila Sul Residency” brings together Dudu Quintanilha, a Brazilian-Argentinian visual artist based in Berlin, and María José Murillo, a weaver and textile artist born and raised in southern Peru. Both artists joined the Vila Sul residency programme of the Goethe-Institut Salvador-Bahia from March to May 2026.

Episode 3: Under the Mango Tree with RÊVE ULTIME / Alexandre Craigh and Ankit Ravani

Episode 03 of “Under the Mango Tree – Talks from the Vila Sul Residency” brings together RÊVE ULTIME / Alexandre Craigh, a multidisciplinary artist from Canada, and Ankit Ravani, a visual artist and puppeteer from India. Both artists joined the Vila Sul residency programme of the Goethe-Institut Salvador-Bahia from March to May 2026.

Episode 2: Under the Mango Tree with Henry Weekes and Camille Banville

Episode 2 of Under the Mango Tree – Talks from the Vila Sul Residency brings together musician and composer Henry Weekes (UK/Germany) and puppeteer Camille Banville (Canada), who were residents at the Vila Sul Residency of the Goethe-Institut Salvador-Bahia between September and November 2025.

Episode 1 - Under the Mango Tree with Karina Griffith and Nyancho NwaNry

Episode 1 of “Under the Mango Tree – Talks from the Vila Sul Residency” brings together film programmer and researcher Karina Griffith (Canada/Guyana/Germany) and documentary filmmaker Nyancho NwaNri (Nigeria), who were residents at Vila Sul Residency of the Goethe-Institut Salvador-Bahia between September and November 2025.
