This call for applications is aimed at choreographers and/or dancers who have developed and written an original work of dance that can be presented as a solo.
Selection criteria
The contest rewards a single winner. Group applications are not accepted. For the sake of an open and neutral platform, the winner is chosen by an independent jury of performing artists and professionals in the cultural scene. The price will be awarded based on following criteria:
- Originality, creativity and innovation of the proposed work.
- Quality of presentation of the application file.
- Technical, artistic and professional skills of the applicant.
- Relevance of the proposed work to the local and/or international context.
The jury
The selection of a single winner is the responsibility of a jury consisting of the following professionals:
- Agathe Djokam (Dancer and choregrapher)
- Kevin Bikatal (Musician, percussionist)
- Sonia Omboudou (Journalist)
The Prize
The winner will receive the following benefits (This is subject to the availabilities of the Goethe-Institut):
- Personalized coaching by established professional (s).
- Organization of a show during the period June-December 2026 (communication, technical and logistical organization, scenography, costumes).
- Support for the presentation of the work outside Yaoundé.
- A bonus of 500,000 F CFA.
- A residency in preparation for the show.
- A digital photo album of the show.
- A video of the show.
The Application
The application file must include:
- CV of dancer and/or choreographer (PDF format, max 1 page, Times New Roman, font 12, single-spaced)
- A scan copy of applicant’s National Identity Card or passport (JPG or PDF format)
- A photo of the dancer and/or choreographer (JPG format).
- A text presenting the piece (in PDF format, max 1 page, Times New Roman, font 12, single-spaced).
- A link to a video (unedited still shot) of the dance performance lasting between 3 and 5 mins.
Limitations
The competition is open to Cameroonian artists, living in Cameroon and aged 30 or under on 28.02.2026 (born after 28.02.1996) and 18 or under (born before 28.02.2008). Previous winners in any category are not eligible.
Deadline to apply
28.02.2026 at midnight.
Applications can only be submitted online via the Goethe-Institut Kamerun website. The results of the first selection phase for the three finalists will be posted at the Goethe-Institut Kamerun and available on the website (www.goethe.de/Cameroon) and on its Facebook page on 16.03.2026. The 3 finalists will take part in face-to-face auditions on 28.03.2026 at the Goethe-Institut in Yaoundé.
