THE HAIR DIVIDE AND OTHER POEMS is a sort of diary jottings in poetry, organized chronologically. Each of the 46 poems of the collection tells its own story, of anger, anguish, mystery, love and laughter, be it from the vantage point of Buea, Akwaya, Yaoundé, Dar es salam, Calabar until Balikumbat-Cameroon.
The collection in its variety, instills reflection, offers entertainment, impart education and inspires, building a bond with reader across the globe. A bond which even the hair can’t divide.
About the author
Liyong Emmanuel Sama is a social entrepreneur and conservationist, living and working in Bamenda, Cameroon. An ex-protected area conservator, he holds a Master’s degree and several diplomas in conservation studies. He co-founded and leads CIRMAD, a conservation organization. A titled prince, Liyong is a Bible translator and literacy teacher with the Mubako Language Development Project, a mother tongue project he co-founded and leads.
Liyong has published GREEN DOCTRINE, his “green poetry” collection, (2016); NOT ACCORDING TO TRADITION, a novel, (2017), Field surveys on the medicinal wildlife species (2019) and several academic papers.
L'aprèm' du livre is the monthly book presentation organised by the Goethe-Institut Cameroon. It enables authors to present their works to a broad public and to trigger dialogue with the audience. Each year, 11 authors are selected by a jury following a call for entries.
