As part of the Goethe-Découverte platform, the Goethe-Institut Kamerun presents the dance performance of « Identité » by Larissa Ebong.
Larissa Ebong is a young Cameroonian dancer and performing artist who began her career in 2019. Originally from the East Region of Cameroon, she was born in 2001. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in visual arts and art history, with a specialization in Arts and Multimedia, at the Institute of Fine Arts in Nkongsamba.
As the Goethe-Découverte 2025 laureate in the dance category, Larissa has participated in numerous artistic events both in Cameroon and internationally. Her engagements include festivals such as Modaperf, Pie Claude Ngumu, Tanga NGANDO, Perform’action, The Last Popper, Reconnection, the Contemporary Artists’ Gathering in the Grassland, the Contemporary Arts Meeting in Brazzaville, Kinact in Kinshasa, Trouble Festival in Brussels, and Africologne in Cologne.
These experiences have offered her valuable opportunities to collaborate with fellow artists through workshops, discussions, and roundtables—greatly enriching her practical skills and theoretical understanding.
« Identity » is a journey through the body as a vessel of memory, scars, and resistance. Positioned between heritage and transformation, this creation delves into what shapes us, what imprints itself upon us, and what we choose to embody—or to reject. It is a silent cry, a pursuit of reclamation and authenticity.
