In “Patriotic Psalms”, Christian Okala offers a thought-provoking reflection on the identity and future of Cameroon, a country nown for its rich cultural and natural diversity. The author pays tribute to major historical figures such as Um Nyobe and John Ngu Foncha, while criticising the political divisions that weaken society and the economy. He develops the concepts of ‘Patritude’, defined as a deep love for one’s country, and ‘Nationism’, which calls for overcoming ethnic divisions to build a united nation. The book calls on Government officials, politicians and citizens to prioritize the common interest and to commit themselves to building a strong, united Cameroon that is resolutely committed to a pan-African ideal.
