As part of the Goethe-Découverte platform, the Goethe-Institut Kamerun presents the stage performance of « Mbíngà » by Elsymphonie
Marie Elise Ebinembegne Etoundi, known as Elsymphonie, is a Cameroonian slam artist who views slam as a space of freedom and truth. She uses this art form to inspire reflection and resistance, carrying the voice of a clear‑sighted youth who refuses silence in the face of social ills. A seasoned performer, she has won several public speaking competitions, including the Cameroon Orators’ Cup 2025, earned recognition at COCAM Centre Slam, and contributed to campaigns such as the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender‑Based Violence. Her journey also includes performances at institutional concerts like Asmac Voice, affirming her commitment to using words as powerful forces for transformation and awareness.
The Goethe‑Découverte 2026 laureate presents Mbinga, a slam performance composed of nine pieces centered on women, illuminating their struggles, silences, resilience, and brilliance. Through this art form, she seeks to move, awaken, and inspire reflection, convinced that words hold transformative power. Elsymphonie believes that slam is a powerful tool for social transformation— capable of naming what hurts, honoring what resists, and imagining what can change.
