The Goethe-Institut Kamerun warmly invites German teachers in Cameroon and Gabon to the 2026 Teachers’ Camp, which focuses on happy learning. This professional development programme is aimed at dedicated German teachers who wish to further develop their teaching in a practical way and gain new inspiration. The emphasis is on the learning-theoretical approach of Happy Learning, as well as creative work with freely available online materials such as videos, audio files and magazines in German.
Context
Modern foreign language teaching shows that language is learnt most effectively when it is actively experienced and associated with positive emotions. Enjoyment of learning increases receptiveness and leads to long-term learning success. At the same time, the consistent use of German as the language of instruction in the classroom is crucial to enabling learners to function effectively in the language. Authentic digital materials such as videos or magazines open new worlds of learning and provide language role models that motivate young people and give them a real connection to the language. Particularly in our region, where large class sizes and limited technical equipment often pose a challenge, creative methods and freely available resources can have a particularly strong impact on learning.
