As part of the Goethe-Découverte platform, the Goethe-Institut Kamerun presents the theatrical performance of « Journey with the self » by Moose-Lyon
Nhyomog Lyonga Evan Boris AKA Moose-Lyon is a Cameroonian creative from the Southwest region, and a graduate of the University of Yaoundé I with a B.A. in Cinema Production from the Department of Arts and Archaeology. The Goethe-Decouverte laureate in the theatre category started his artistic journey in his early twenties, assisting in the direction of The Magic Comb in 2014, which paved the way for his co‑founding of the Visionary Theatre Troupe—an English‑speaking ensemble committed to theatre as a tool for social change. Over the past decade, Moose-Lyon has expanded his practice into acting, participating in numerous theatre and film productions, while also mastering technical fields such as costume design, scenography, sound, and lighting. With Journey with the Self, Moose-Lyon seeks to share his artistic journey with the public, establishing the foundation for a professional theatre career not only as an actor but also as a visionary director.
Journey with the Self is a philosophical and metaphysical drama by Ayafor Leonel, edited by N. Lyonga Evan Boris. It serves as an allegory of the human condition, exploring the eternal tension between the physical world and the spiritual afterlife. The narrative unfolds through cosmic dialogues and earthly transitions, shaped by the contrasting perspectives of Life and Death. Life views existence through a physical lens, seeking longevity, ambition, and worldly pleasures, while Death acts as a humble servant of a higher cosmic order, seeing earthly life as a test filled with suffering and death as a necessary passage to spiritual renewal and equilibrium.
