Can I change individual dates after the course has started?

Yes, this is possible. Please note that any changes to individual lessons must be communicated to the teacher at least 48 hours before the agreed date. Otherwise the appointed time and date shall be deemed as having been accepted. Changes to appointed class times on a Monday must be communicated to the teacher by at least 12 midday CET on the Friday before.

How is the course duration for German Private or Small Group Lessons defined?

You can book German Private or Small Group Lessons with either 10, 20 or 30 lessons (lessons 45 min. each). If you book German Private or Small Group Lessons with 10 lessons, you have a maximum of 3 months to complete your 10 lessons. If you book German Private or Small Group Lessons with 20 lessons, you have a maximum of 6 months to complete your 20 lessons. If you book the German Private or Small Group Lessons with 30 lessons, you have a maximum of 9 months to complete your 30 lessons. However, how long your German Private or Small Group Lessons actually last depends on the time intervals at which you schedule your lessons.

Will I reach a certain language level more quickly if I attend German private or small group lessons rather than a regular group course?

How long it will take you to reach a certain language level depends on many factors such as mother tongue, language learning experience, intensity of the lessons and learning environment. We would be very happy to advise you in person in this regard. In any case, taking German private or small group lessons means that your learning is tailored to your individual needs and wishes. You decide what exactly you want to practise.

Are there any additional costs for attending German private lesson inhouse?

Yes, if German private or group lessons do not take place at Goethe-Institut, additional travel costs for the teacher may be charged.

How do German Private or Small Group Lessons differ from the course German Individual Online?

German private or small group lessons can be done in person at one of our locations or online via Zoom. The learning content is tailored to your individual needs. The course German Online Individual has clearly defined general language learning content you can work on at any time and place.

How do German private or small group classes (in person) differ from other in person courses?

In contrast to other in person courses, German private or small group lessons are provided as one-to-one tuition or in a small group of 2 to 5 people. This means you will learn on your own with your teacher or with up to four other people, e.g. with your work colleagues.

Will I receive a Certificate of Participation after completing German Private or Small Group Lessons?

Yes, after completing German Private or Small Group Lessons you will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Can I continue learning with an intensive, evening or online course after German Private or Small Group Lessons?

What do we have to consider so that my colleagues and I can team up for German Small Group Lessons?

We are offering German small group lessons for groups of 2 to 5 people. For optimum learning progress, it is important that the language skills of participants are at the same level. We will determine the level of the lessons in a language level assessment.

Your individual German course

We provide you with individual advice (by phone or e-mail) without any commitment and support you in booking your individually tailored German course with 10, 20 or 30 lessons. At the exact location that suits you best. Learn in person at Goethe-Institut, inhouse (may incur travel costs) or conveniently all online via Zoom. We will find suitable dates and times for you based on your requirements, whether this is in the morning, midday, evening or on a Saturday. A tuition date covers at least 2 lessons (corresponding to 90 minutes) and there must be at least 7 working days between the time of your booking and the start date of the course. Once booked, you will receive access to our free online language level assessment to determine your current language level.

Our tip: For optimum learning success, we recommend you attend 90 minute lessons two to three times a week.

Levels offered

The number of lessons that are generally required to reach a certain level and take the relevant exam for the Goethe-Zertifikat depends on how regularly you attend lessons and how much time you spend practising outside class. Individual factors such as language learning experience and any other languages you speak or have learnt already play an important role in this.

To achieve an optimum learning success, we will assess your level prior to the course. Timely and complete processing of the language level assessment is mandatory and prerequisite to attending the course.
