East African Global Music Campus

The EAGMC (East African Global Music Campus) is a consortium of partners including music academies from Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, Sudan and Germany. The aim of the Campus is to train teachers using a custom made curriculum and teaching methods developed by a team of African and German teachers that grew out of the needs and realities of the rich and diverse African Music and Culture.

Through the combined efforts of the Goethe-Institut, the Global Music Academy and the EAGMC between 2019 and 2022, musical instruments were acquired for the partners in Ethiopia and South Sudan whilst training modules for music teachers in the partner countries were developed, despite the many challenges of the times.

The programme on Friday, 11 November 2022 at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia marks the inclusion of John Paul II (JPII) College in the EAGMC network as the official partner for the initiative in Ethiopia. The proceedings will feature the handing over of musical instruments to the JPII followed by a Jazz Performance by members of Jazzamba (Ethiopia) and the Global Music Academy (Germany).
