What are the technical requirements?

For an optimal learning experience, you need a Windows or Mac desktop computer or laptop. To participate, you must use: headset/headphones, desktop or laptop computer, internet speeds of at least 3 mbps, and mastery of basic computer functions (copy/paste, etc.). Mobile devices cannot be used for class; Chrome is the most compatible browser for the learning platform. You need a headset with microphone. If you use the built-in speakers and microphone on your laptop, it might cause an echo for the other participants in the online classrooms. A headset and a camera are essential for participating in the live sessions. We ask you to turn on your camera during the sessions. What is the difference between a blended learning course, an online group course, and an online individual course?

In a blended learning course , you meet with the instructor and the learning group over Zoom every week at a set time. German online group courses are flexible: you decide when you want to work on the learning platform. There is a meeting with the teacher and the group every 2 to 3 weeks. The date is set by the group by survey a few days before the meeting.

Do I need to buy a textbook?

No, you do not need to buy a textbook for online courses and blended learning courses. We provide all course materials on our learning platform.

How can I register on the portal MEIN GOETHE?

In order to access some of the Goethe-Institut's online services, such as the learning platform , it is necessary to register on the portal MEIN GOETHE .
