50% of a blended learning course consists of independent online learning.
You will have access to our online platform, where you will find the online portion of the course. This section includes engaging learning activities, online flash cards to study vocabulary, and summary explanations of all important grammatical structures and phrases you will encounter.
Your instructor will assign weekly exercises intended to be completed at your own pace within a given week. These exercises will prepare you for the online live sessions in which you will meet with your classmates.
You will complete most online activities individually, but they will also include interactive tasks where you will engage with the entire learning group. These group activities may include posting about your hobbies, interests or upcoming events while also interacting with classmates by leaving comments on their posts.
You will learn just as much in a blended learning course as in one of our fully face-to-face courses. The three hours of learning per week are divided into two parts:
Extensive courses (10 weeks)
- 135 minutes a week of online live group classes (zoom, adobe connect)
- 135 minutes of independent online learning
Intensive courses (5 weeks)
- 270 minutes a week of online live group classes (zoom, adobe connect)
- 270 minutes of independent online learning
For an optimal learning experience, you need a Windows or Mac desktop computer or laptop.
To participate, you must use: headset/headphones, desktop or laptop computer, internet speeds of at least 3 mbps, and mastery of basic computer functions (copy/paste, etc.).
Mobile devices cannot be used for class; Chrome is the most compatible browser for the learning platform.
You need a headset with microphone. If you use the built-in speakers and microphone on your laptop, it might cause an echo for the other participants in the online classrooms.
A headset and a camera are essential for participating in the live sessions. We ask you to turn on your camera during the sessions.

In order to access some of the Goethe-Institut's online services, such as the
learning platform, it is necessary to register on the portal
MEIN GOETHE. You can find out how to do this in our
short film.
We provide all the course materials you need for the Blended Learning course online.
All students who attend at least 70% of their classes, and (for courses with an online component) complete at least 70% of their assignments will receive a certificate of participation for their course.
Also, we prepare and encourage you to sign up for one of our official Goethe-Zertifikat exams, which will provide you with an internationally-recognised certificate to prove your language abilities. Course participants will be able to take an exam for a discounted rate.
