ParleKatta is a not-for-profit initiative, which has been regularly organizing programmes in VileParle for the last nine years. This November, the Katta is with the renowned Marathi poet and writer Aruna Dhere. Aruna Dhere born in 1957 is a Marathi litterateur who has written over forty books in different genres including poetry, children’s literature and social history, with an enduring emphasis on the lives and worlds of women. She has also written criticism on Marathi literature, folk literature and the epics. Her books of poetry include Prarambha, Jaave Janmaakade, Nilya Paradarshak Andharaat and Matraakshar. She is the recipient of numerous awards, among them are the Acharya Atre Award and the Kavi Kusumagraj Award. She has worked as an editor, lecturer and producer. She is currently the director of the research centre ‘Shashwati’ in Pune.
The programmes follow to a large extent the typical idea of a katta, which is a place where people gather and have conversations. In short it is an open forum. An interview pattern is usually followed, ending with an interaction with the audiences. So far many eminent personalities like Dr, Jayant Naralikar, Dr.Raghunath Mashelkar, Dr.Narendra Dabholkar, Dr. Prakash Amte, Dr. Vikas Amte, Smt.Kishoritai Amonkar, Vishwas NangrePatil, Smt. Shobha De, Dr. Ravi Bapat, Dr.Ajit Phadke, and many more have been guests at Katta.
