Exclusive light and sound installation and workshop with artists Kuno Seltmann and Ahmad Masoud

At the Jabal Amman Campus of the German Jordanian University German light artist Kuno Seltmann and Jordanian sound artist Ahmad Masoud came together to create an immersive experience. In merging light, sound and the urban scenery of the city, they formed a multisensory encounter, transforming the German Lounge at the German Jordanian University into a vibrant stage for an interactive media performance.

Through the constant interaction of cinematic projections and pulsating musical soundscape the performance stimulated subconscious reflections on connection, rhythm and movement. As the audience members were encouraged to move through the illuminations, that responded to their movements, they were themselves becoming an integral part of the artwork. The event was preceded by a multi-day workshop on the creation of sonic-visual performances. Using both digital and analogue techniques, experimental and expressive approaches and diverse resources including everyday objects like glass bowls and kitchen soap, the workshop’s participants together with light artist Kuno Seltmann created creative visual artworks, while under the guidance of sound artist Ahmad Masoud, they developed immersive soundscapes and sonic narratives. These works formed part of the indoor exhibition accompanying the final outdoor performance.
Through this exhibition an audience of around 200 people discovered fascinating artworks by local emerging artists all while experiencing a captivating outdoor performance. The evening concluded with local snacks and drinks while the audience and the artists exchanged their thoughts on the performance in a relaxed atmosphere.
