On Thursday, December 18, 2025, the Goethe-Institut Tokyo will host a special performance of The Orchestra of Excited Strings, the renowned ensemble project by minimalist music pioneer Arnold Dreyblatt,in collaboration with MODE.
Founded in 1979 in New York, The Orchestra of Excited Strings has continued to develop its distinctive methodology over several decades, navigating changes in its lineup as well as periods of temporary inactivity.
This performance will bring together Arnold Dreyblatt, current ensemble members Konrad Sprenger (composer and instrument designer based in Berlin) and Joachim Schütz (guitarist and improvisation musician), along with two special guests: Dreyblatt’s long-time collaborator Jim O’Rourke and musician Eiko Ishibashi. A total of five performers will appear on stage in this special formation.
