A listening evening of German–Japanese sound stories Salon Dimtsi ([ድምጺ]– “sound” in Tigrinya) is a listening format that understands listening as an active practice. Instead of consuming music in the background, the evening invites the audience to experience sound consciously and collectively – as a shared experience between space, stories, and people.

Initiated by Tmnit Ghide, Salon Dimtsi combines curated music with storytelling. Stories, contexts, and anecdotes open up new perspectives on what we hear, revealing the hidden connections within sound.

For the first time, Salon Dimtsi takes place in Japan. As part of her residency, this edition brings together research, encounters, and observations on the connections between Germany and Japan. The result is a multilayered sonic tapestry of influences, parallels, and musical dialogues, made audible in this listening session.

The evening is not intended as a complete music history, but rather as a curated collection of listening moments – a space to pause, listen, and connect.
