About the performance:
Since 1975 Lutz Förster has been dancing over a period of 40 years with the Tanztheater Wuppertal - Pina Bausch and was the Artistic Director of the company from April 2013 until July 2016. Since 1991 he is Professor for Contemporary Dance at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany and has been directing the Dance Department until 2012.
 
In 2009 he created a Solo  “Lutz Förster- Portrait of a dancer”, in which he looks back on his life as a dancer especially the 34 year collaboration with Pina Bausch, as well as his work with Robert Wilson and the Jose Limón Dance Company. He has been touring this solo until today in Germany and around the world (Warsaw, Ferrara, Brussels, Oslo, Zagreb, Seoul among others).
In 2017 he revised this piece.  “Lutz Förster – Dance Stories by and with Lutz Förster” will be performed for the first time at BIPOD 2017 the Beirut International Platform of Dance.
 
About Lutz Förster:
Lutz Förster spent the season 1981/82 with scholarship in New York, where he mainly danced with the José Limón Dance Company. In July 1984, he returned to the company as Associate Artistic Director, where he performed in choreographies by José Limón, Anna Sokolow, and Meredith Monk among others.
He has been working freelance with Robert Wilson in productions of the Hamburg State Opera (Cosmopolitan Greetings) and the Scala di Milano (Dr. Faustus) and with Sir Simon Rattle for the Salzburg Festival (Les Boréades). He also appeared in several TV and Film productions, as in Wim Wenders “Pina”.
He trained at the Folkwang - Hochschule in Essen and studied with Hans Züllig and Jean Cébron among others. Up until 1978, Förster was a member of the Folkwang Tanzstudio under the direction of Susanne Linke and Reinhild Hoffmann.
He has been working as a guest teacher worldwide. In 2008/09 he taught as a guest professor for the Universidad Veracruzana in Xalapa, Mexico.
 
In September 2015 Lutz Förster was awarded in Positano/Italy the Léonide Massine Dance Prize for his lifetime achievement (Premio alla Carriera).
