The theme of this year’s international festival of experimental film, video and music is CROSSING OVER. The program includes: KLEX open programmes, international guest programmes, artists’ lectures and audio-visual performances.
KLEX is an independent, artist-run grassroots international festival of experimental film, video art and music founded in Malaysia in 2010.

KLEX 2017 has received 200 submissions via the open call, from Malaysia and around the world, including Argentina, Canada, China, Egypt, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Italy, Singapore, Spain, UK, USA and Vietnam. From these submissions, the curatorial committee Chris Chong Chan Fui, Fabrizio Gilardino, Kok Siew Wai and Usen Leong have selected 30 experimental shorts from the open call to create three KLEX open programs.

KLEX 2017 will showcase five programmes from Germany, Japan, Singapore and South Korea.
Max Hattler, an award-winning German new media artist and assistant professor at City University of Hong Kong, will be present at the festival to introduce his program of short animation works and to conduct an artist lecture.
