Optimal preparation for the exam
You can find free exam training for each exam on the Goethe-Institut website. The materials are similar to the actual exam in terms of task types, number of items and time limit.
An interactive version with evaluation is also available for each exam (programmed and certified for accessibility).

The exam Goethe-Zertifikat C2: Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom is generally recognised as proof of language proficiency for studying at a college or university in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It does not require proof of a TestDaF exam or another university-related exam (DSH).
Many colleges and universities also accept the Goethe-Zertifikat C1 or the Goethe-Zertifikat B2 as proof of language proficiency.
Please contact the university at which you wish to study to find out which Goethe-Zertifikat is accepted for your course.

Goethe-Zertifikat A1: Start Deutsch 1The exam is passed if at least 60 points (60 % of the maximum number of points) have been achieved and all parts of the exam have been passed.

Goethe-Zertifikat A2: Fit in Deutsch
The exam is passed if a total of at least 60 points (60 % of the maximum number of points) are achieved and all parts of the exam have been passed. Of these, at least 45 points must be achieved in the written exam and at least 15 points in the oral exam.

The exams at levels A1 and A2 can be repeated in their entirety as often as required.
The individual modules of the exams at levels B1 to C2 can also be taken as often as required.
Goethe-Institut certificates are valid indefinitely.
Please enquire directly with the recognising body (e.g. authorities, German diplomatic missions abroad, universities, employers) as to how current your Goethe certificate must be.
